Rockfield Road, Monmouth
This project was to provide a new build retail/commercial development of four units within two buildings on an existing residential site in Monmouth. The site housed a derelict detached bungalow, with a terrace of post-war and more modern residential buildings directly opposite.
Located and accessed directly off the busy Rockfield Road, entirely within a C2 flood zone, and 'occupied' by a variety of protected species including bats and slow worms, CWA were delighted to achieve a consented design for the 2 large retail buildings together with 34 parking spaces, forecourt and delivery area, via a design that delivers a clean, contemporary feel using a mixture of modern and natural building materials.
Construction was completed in 2017, with existing mature landscaping retained and complemented by new low-level planting and grassed areas, and a variety of biodiversity and ecology measures providing a setting that fully enhances the site's residential setting.
