Gwern Y Domen, Caerphilly

CWA were approached by PMG and Persimmon Homes to masterplan this 48.1Ha piece of land on the former farm of Gwern Y Domen.

The brief was to create a cohesive and stimulating place to live, connect back to the facilities of Caerphilly and provide connected and extended public realm and green infrastructure for the town overall.

The proposals were to deliver up to 618 new homes over a variety of types and tenures, a series of public open spaces for play and relaxation linked by a series of walkable routes, and circulation infrastructure made up of roads, footpaths and cycle routes make a new formal and pleasant walk connecting back to Caerphilly.  

The design is a marriage of the aspiration of the brief and capitalisation of the characteristics of the site and its surroundings.
