Caerphilly Library

This town centre library sits in the heart of Caerphilly, just opposite the castle.  It replaced the old market and post office but remained vacant for years following the relocation of the post office and the demise of the old market.

Not only is this a public library but it is also a community hub, providing services such as information spaces, cash facilities, interview rooms and a café style IT area.

The design of the library principally follows the local vernacular in form, details and materials but emphasises the importance of the building by its use, importance as a civic building and key focal position.
